The Governing Body of DISHA-INDIA reviewed the progress of two projects being run by the organization. The brief about the progress is given under:-

The Projects:-

1. Vocational Training Centre for girls under the name of DISHA Empowerment      Centre:-
    Training is being imparted to women especially the school drop out girls in two     crafts. 
a) Embriodery- machine as well as hand embriodery.
b) Stitching (cutting and tailoring).
    DISHA Empowerment centre is running from past three years at Purkhoo Camp in     Jammu. At present there are 25 girls undergoing training in the centre.

 
2. Computer Education Centre under the name e.DISHA:
   Short term computer cources are being run for boys and girls of the Community at    e.DISHA. The computer centre has been    established two and a half years ago at    Purkhoo Camp. As many as 22 candidates (10 boys & 12 girls) are learning    computers at e.DISHA.

The Achievements:-

   Running two projects (i) Disha Empowerment Centre and (ii) e.Disha at Purkhoo Camp in Jammu    for the past three years. As a result of this the following achievements have been made so far:-
• As many as 60 girls who are mostly the school drop outs and those from the low income families   have under gone   training in    embroidery and stitching.
• 20 girls after completion of training are being provided work through DISHA Empowerment Centre   and able to earn a    small    monthly income regularly.
• 90 persons (42 boys & 48 girls) have been imparted computer education through short term   courses at e.DISHA.
   
 
•  10 boys after completion of computer course have managed jobs in the corporate sector.
•  Medical relief has been provided to one family.

Future Projects:-


   The projects launched by DISHA-INDIA though in infancy are of long term nature. As there is great ever need to work for    
   self- reliance and self sufficiency of the community, we plan to undertake the following projects in future:-

•  A full fledged technical institution with state-of-the-art infrastructure.
•  A home for the aged with complete infrastructure for geriatric care for those older persons who have fallen through the   family    support system.

   The ongoing projects will be expanded in order to cover more needy people in the community. The capacity of the two centres will    be enhanced by creating more infrastructure in the same.

Grant of Tax Exemption:-


   DISHA-INDIA has been granted tax exemption w.e.f 31-05-2006 under section 80G of the Income Tax Act 1961. As such all the    donations made to DISHA-INDIA qualify for tax exemption under section 80G of Income Tax Act 1961.

   We look forward to your continuous moral and financial support. The donation can be made through demand draft/Cheque in    favour of “DISHA-INDIA”. I would also request for your valuable suggestions and technical inputs from time to time.
